   On the 23rd, the 85th Regional Future Buddhist Fostering Scholarship Award Ceremony was held in the main auditorium of the main building. The event was attended by important people such as Chairman Don Kwan, President Yoon Jae-woong, Director Je Jong of Jeonggakwon, and Director Son Jae-hyeon of DUICA. Student representatives and students who received the 'Regional Future Buddhist Fostering Scholarship' were also present.

   This award ceremony was held for students who participated in various programs such as Buddhist club activities and Young Camp at all colleges and DUICA of our university. The number of beneficiaries is about 700 students in degree programs and credit bank system, and the total amount of scholarships awarded is about 700 million won. This is the largest scholarship award ceremony in the history of Dongguk University. In addition, 1,000 temple stay experience tickets were provided to the scholarship students, which are expected to contribute to the spread of traditional cultural experiences.

   President Yoon Jae-woong said, “We are supporting students so that Dongguk’s name can be known around the world,” and added, “I hope this will help create an environment where students can devote themselves to their studies with pride and self-esteem in the local future Buddhist fostering scholarship.” Chairman Don Kwan said, “I am very grateful to be with the students, who are the protagonists of Dongguk University and Korean Buddhism, on a fine autumn day like today,” and added, “We will spare no support so that we can share the teachings of Buddha with college students and young people through various events, including the Young Camp, and so that they can become the protagonists of their own lives.”

   By the first half of 2024, Dongguk University had provided scholarships to more than 500 students through various Buddhist scholarship programs, such as the Regional Future Buddhist Fostering Scholarship and Dongguk Foundation Scholarship. Additionally, Dongguk University provided scholarships to approximately 700 students at this award ceremony. It was announced that it plans to continue providing scholarships to all students belonging to Buddhist clubs after this scholarship award ceremony.
