Dongguk University is offering a series of free special lectures titled “OS and DA Basic Training” to strengthen students’ practical computer skills. The program will be held at the Computer Lab in Manhae Hall of Law on August 19th (Tuesday) and August 21st (Thursday), 2025.
The first day, August 19th, will focus on Microsoft Excel under the theme “Excel Basics and Understanding Formulas.” Over the course of two sessions, participants will learn how to input and format data in cells, adjust font styles, add borders, and align text for table design. Practical exercises will guide students in creating structured documents. The second session introduces formula fundamentals, including cell reference and the use of basic operators such as addition, subtraction, and multiplication. Through hands-on practice, attendees will be able to apply formulas to real-life calculation tasks.
The second day, On August 21st, the program continues with the theme “Functions and Chart Applications.” The morning session will cover data analysis, teaching students how to sort and organize data efficiently, as well as how to use filtering functions to extract useful information. The afternoon session will shift to data visualization, with instruction on creating and editing charts such as bar charts and pie charts. Students will practice applying these tools to cases like comparing subject scores or analyzing monthly trends.
Alongside Excel, the lecture series also includes training in Microsoft Word with the aim of enhancing document-writing skills for academic and professional use. The Word sessions begin with basic functions such as typing and editing text, adjusting line spacing, and using auto-save. Later classes explore document formatting and styles, including headings, bullet points, emphasis, and citations. The final session focuses on advanced report-writing skills such as inserting tables, shapes, and images, adding page numbers and headers, and automatically generating a table of contents.
