The Dokdo Speech Contest for International Students 2025 will be held on Monday, September 22nd at the Eastern Office of Gyeongsangbuk-do. Hosted by the Dokdo Foundation, the event aims to raise global awareness of Dokdo and highlight its historical, cultural, ecological, and international significance.
Applications are open from Monday, August 4th to Monday, August 25th until 3:00 P.M. Required documents must be submitted via email to mm86391227@gmail.com. Submissions must include the application form (Attachment 1), a copy of the participant’s passport or alien registration card, and either a speech script or a video file written or recorded in Korean.
Eligible participants include international students currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs at universities in Korea who hold a D-2 (Student), D-4 (General Trainee), or D-10 (Job Seeker) visa. Teams must consist of four to five members and may be composed of students from different universities.
Presentation topics can cover a wide range of themes related to Dokdo, including its history, environment, ecology, culture, or global relevance. Various formats such as presentations, skits, plays, songs, musicals, recitations, and talk shows are welcomed.
Awards will be given to six teams. The grand prize-winning team will receive 2,000,000 KRW. The first prize is 1,500,000 KRW, followed by a second prize of 1,000,000 KRW. Three teams will receive encouragement prizes of 500,000 KRW each. All winning teams will also be awarded certificates from the Director of the Dokdo Foundation.
