Departing from Cheongnyangni Station in Seoul, it runs along the Jungang, Taebaek, and Jeongseon lines before arriving at Auraji Station. The train’s nickname, “A-Train,” stands for Arirang, Ace, Activity, Adventure, and Amazing—reflecting the diverse experiences it offers along the way.

The exterior of the train is inspired by the natural beauty and culture of Jeongseon. The locomotive and power car are painted in the purple tones of the Donggang Pasque-flower, which is native to the region. The four-passenger cars are individually themed with distinct colors and names: Sky Room and Nuri Room (blue), Earth Room (red), and Love Room (yellow).    The Jeongseon Arirang Train stops at several stations including Wonju, Jecheon, Yeongwol, Yemi, Mindungsan, Byeoreogok, Seonpyeong, Jeongseon, Najon, and finally Auraji. A highlight of the journey is its alignment with the Jeongseon 5-Day Market, held on days ending in 2 or 7. The number of passengers typically increases on these dates, so booking in advance is recommended. The Jeongseon 5-Day Market is one of Korea’s most iconic traditional markets, drawing both locals and travelers from across the country. Visitors can browse stalls offering regional specialties, such as wild ginseng and deodeok root, and experience the rich atmosphere of a marketplace steeped in local culture and tradition.

As the train’s schedule can vary by season and special events, it is essential to check the most up-to-date timetable in advance. Reservations can be made through the official KORAIL website or customer service center, and due to the train’s popularity, securing tickets ahead of time is highly advised.
