Dongguk University has made the most significant investment in educational, research, and student welfare facilities in its history to welcome the 2025 academic year. During the winter break, the university invested approximately 4 billion KRW to complete improvement projects at over 20 locations on campus, transforming various facilities to create a more comfortable and user-friendly environment for students and staff to study and conduct research.

One of the main projects was the creation of Neo Space, a state-of-the-art AI-SW education and learning space located on the first floor of Dahyang Hall. The 480-sqare-meter space includes a 167-seat computer lab, three seminar rooms, and one lounge. Neo Space provides a cutting-edge educational environment where students can experience and learn the latest technologies. Additionally, the heating and cooling systems in classrooms and student spaces across five buildings, including the New Engineering Building, have been replaced to provide a more environmentally friendly, energy-efficient, and comfortable environment for students.

There were also significant improvements in the student welfare environment. The student cafeteria on the first basement floor of the Business Administration Building, which had been closed for four years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was transformed into a multi-purpose lounge. The newly renovated facility includes a 300-seat cafeteria, a cafe, and a convenience store, addressing the long-standing requests from students of the College of Business Administration, Social Sciences, and Arts who had been inconvenienced by the lack of such facilities. The new multi-purpose lounge provides a comfortable space for students.

In addition, the lounge area in front of the Haklim Hall was renovated into the “Haklim Hall Mind Resting Zone,” a peaceful space where students can relax and socialize with friends.

The research environment for faculty members was also improved. A new shared lounge for endowed professors was established on the fourth floor of the Manhae Hall, and space expansion and environmental improvements for new faculty members were implemented to provide a better environment for teaching and research.

The Chairman of Dongguk University, Monk Donkwan, expressed his gratitude, saying, “As we welcome new students and new faculty members this semester, I am thankful for the improvements made to our campus environment. I hope the university administration continues to ensure that all members of the Dongguk family can experience the benefits of these improvements.” President Yun Jae-woong stated, “Through a large-scale investment during the winter break, we have enhanced the educational, research, and welfare facilities on campus. We will continue to invest in such improvements, and especially focus on the construction of Lotus Hall in September, aiming to establish Dongguk University a university with the finest educational, research, and welfare environment.”

Dongguk University’s large-scale investment and environmental improvements go beyond just physical space upgrades. The university is committed to continuously providing an environment where students and faculty can engage in creative and productive learning and research. This improvement project marks a significant turning point in realizing the university’s vision and goals. In particular, state-of-the-art educational spaces like Neo Space will offer students the opportunity to experience the latest technologies firsthand, playing a crucial role in nurturing globally competitive talent through the integration of technology and education.

These environmental improvements during the winter break demonstrate Dongguk University’s commitment to continuously investing in response to requests from students and faculty. Moving forward, the university is committed to making continuous investments in the development of educational and research environments, as well as in enhancing student welfare, to create an even more comfortable and efficient campus.
