Myeongdong Cathedral

Myeongdong Cathedral is one of Seoul’s most significant historical and cultural landmarks, offering a serene and peaceful atmosphere. Built in 1898, this Gothic-style cathedral is not only a center of Korean Catholicism but also an architectural masterpiece. Its beautiful exterior and tranquil interior provide a quiet escape from the bustling Myeongdong streets, leaving a lasting impression on visitors. It is not just a religious site; it is also a healing space where people can take a break and enjoy a moment of peace. Tourists inside the cathedral are not allowed during Mass, so please be careful.

Myeongdong Kyoja

If you visit Myeongdong, you must check out Myeongdong Kyoja, a famous restaurant that specializes in Korean kalguksu (knife-cut noodles). Established in 1966, this long-standing restaurant attracts crowds daily, offering a rich broth and chewy noodles that live up to its reputation. In addition to kalguksu, you can also enjoy other dishes like dumplings. While there may be a wait, the quick turnover means you will not have to wait long to enjoy a delicious meal. Additionally, Myeongdong Kyoja’s kimchi contains a lot of garlic, which some people love while others may find overpowering. If you are sensitive to garlic scent, please keep this in mind.

Myeongdong is a beloved destination for tourists visiting Seoul. It is also very close to Dongguk University, so I recommend you to visit there and have various experiences.
