Debut essay from the 58th reporters
Hello, my name is Jaewon Lee, and I have been selected to join The Dongguk Post starting in April 2024. I am currently majoring in film at Dongguk University. Through this debut essay, I would like to share a brief introduction about myself, my experiences with The Dongguk Post last semester, and my future steps for my fulfilling life.
I have dreamed about screenplay writing and film directing. While attending school I found that it was not easy to make films or video media, and I had a lot of worries about my career path. Numerous video media emerge and disappear in an instant and shooting a film requires not only a great deal of knowledge but also a substantial budget.
These realities have caused me to face the limitations. I was uncertain whether I could live a successful life. In these uncertainties, I went to military to reorganize my thoughts. While serving for military, I was able to meet lots of different people from different area there. By sharing their experiences, I could reorganize my thoughts. I was able to make my conclusion about future which is to do my best in the given reality. After then, I try to gain various experiences from the things I can do now, which will serve as valuable groundwork for my career path.
This is the main reason why I applied for The Dongguk Post. By working as a reporter, I hope to widen my understanding of social issues and improve my writing skills. In order to be a good reporter I would read more articles which will gain me the information about the social issues. Also, I will be able to develop a higher level of proficiency and finesse in my writing skills. Besides, I want the opportunity to work with responsible and dedicated team members. Over the past semester with them, I have experienced great joy. In addition, the busy environment including writing and publishing articles, will offer me new challenges and opportunities for growth.
So far, through various activities, I have had the chance to meet people and encounter some social issues. These experiences have become a great asset to me, and I plan to continue being socially conscious and responsible in my activities. However, I do not have concrete plans for the future. I am not sure that I would work on a video media environment or to become the journalist. Still, I intend to diligently work on the tasks that I face and seek out enjoyable work. If I work diligently on my tasks that I face in The Dongguk Post and my majors, I believe I would found out what I am interested in and what I am good at. Then, enjoyable opportunities will arise, allowing me to shape my future and live a fulfilling life. The experiences at The Dongguk Post, both now and in the future, will be crucial pieces of my life’s journey. I will continue to work hard and responsibly, aiming to become a better adult than now.
Thank you.
