Rainbow Stepping Stone Mentoring is an education volunteer group of university students with Kolon Group and Jump Corporation. It is an educational support project for adolescents with migration backgrounds like foreign families, North Korean refugee families, and unregistered migrant children. The purpose of this project is to support youth from migrant backgrounds emotionally and to support insufficient learning. They would like to conduct mentoring by matching university student mentors and teenagers from migration backgrounds.
Recruits of additional university student mentors for the 9th period of the Rainbow Stepping Stone Mentoring are being sought. The recruitment targets are as follows. Those are university students with migration backgrounds such as intermediate entry and foreign families, North Korean refugee families, children from multicultural families, foreign students, and overseas Koreans. In addition, those required to participate in activities by December 2024 and expected to graduate within the activity period cannot participate.
University student mentors will work at the Bucheon Migrant Labor Welfare Center or the Northern Gyeonggi Migrant Center. The mentoring team consists of one university student mentor and two youth mentees, or one university student mentor and three youth mentees.
The main activities are mentoring Korean language or subject learning by grade, and mentoring culture and arts activities. The vacation experience activities with teenagers are slated for in August. The activity begins in August 2024 and ends in December.
A certain amount of scholarships are provided during the activity period, and activity expenses for mentoring cultural and artistic activities are also supported. The university student mentors can participate in career and job mentoring with Kolon executives and employees.
