2025-07-11     Ku Ji-won

Dongguk University has released the group visa application schedule for international students enrolled in degree programs for the Fall 2025 semester. This application is available exclusively online and supports procedures such as alien registration, visa extension, and visa status change. Students enrolled in Korean language courses or participating in exchange programs are advised to contact the Korean Language Center or the Office of International Relations, respectively.

Eligible applicants are undergraduate and graduate students currently holding a D-2 visa. The application process is divided into three main categories, each with specific required documents and timeframes.

For first-time alien registration, students must submit proof of residence, a passport copy, an ID photo, a certificate of enrollment, and, if applicable, a GKS scholarship certificate. The application fee is KRW 50,000. Applications will be accepted in two rounds: August 18th–25th and September 1st–8th, 2025.

Visa extension applications differ based on the student's situation. Those nearing the expiration of their visa must submit documents such as proof of residence, enrollment certificate, academic transcript, tuition payment confirmation, and financial proof. Additional documents may be required for students with low GPAs or those in extended semesters or thesis-writing stages. The application fee is KRW 75,000, and the submission period is August 25th to September 12th, 2025. Students must remain in Korea throughout the application process and apply within four months of their visa expiration date.

Students changing academic levels—such as from undergraduate (D2-2) to master's (D2-3), or from master's (D2-3) to doctoral (D2-4)—must submit a new certificate of admission and tuition payment receipt. Those from specific countries, including China, India, Vietnam, and others, must also provide proof of academic qualifications and financial statements showing a balance of at least KRW 10,000,000. Applications must be submitted within 15 days of the new semester’s start date.

For visa type changes, such as switching from a language training visa to a degree-seeking visa, students must prepare documents including a certificate of admission, tuition payment receipt, ID photo, passport, alien registration card, and financial documents. Additional requirements apply to students from designated countries. The application fee is KRW 150,000, and the application period will be announced at a later date. Students must remain in Korea during this process as well.

Applications must be submitted via the official application website at https://www.hirevisa.com/dongguk. Applications will not be accepted outside the designated periods. For further information, students are advised to check the detailed guidelines available on the application page or consult the FAQ section.
