"Nevertheless, We Meet," The 2025 DUFF to Be Held
From February 5th to 7th, at KT&G Sangsangmadang Cinema Hongdae
The Department of Film will host the 2025 Dongguk Film Festival, the annual graduation film festival, from February 5th to 7th at KT&G Sangsangmadang Cinema in Hongdae. The festival will showcase a total of 27 feature and short films across various genres, including narrative films and documentaries.
The festival will kick off with an opening ceremony on the 5th, followed by 11 sections of screenings, and conclude on the 7th with a closing ceremony and award presentation. The opening ceremony will be hosted by students from the Department of Theater, with cooperation between the Film and Theater departments.
The slogan for this year’s festival is "Nonetheless, We Meet in the Theater," reflecting the current challenges facing the film industry, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the rise of OTT platforms, and cuts in film production budgets. The slogan emphasizes the value of "theater" and "film" in these times.
During the awards ceremony, four categories will be presented: the Film Da Vin Award, Central Park Award, Distributor's Special Award, and the Cinematography Award. Tickets for the screenings can be purchased at the on-site ticket booth at KT&G Sangsangmadang Cinema, with further details on ticket reservations and remaining seats available on the official Instagram(@2025_duff) of the Dongguk Film Festival.
As part of the festival’s side events, a Film Club Zone will be set up where attendees can share their thoughts on the films. A commemorative photo zone featuring the official mascot "Duff" and a booth selling festival-related merchandise will also be available.
Ahead of the opening, the official YouTube channel (2025 Dongguk Film Festival) released interviews with the directors. In these videos, the filmmakers share behind-the-scenes stories of their projects and express their anticipation for the festival. Audiences will have the opportunity to gain insights into the creative processes and philosophies behind the films before the festival begins.
