One World One Flower Buddhist film festival has announced its opening on September 9th at Dongguk University’s Manhae Square. The film festival, now in its fourth year, showcases not only films focused on Buddhism but also those that raise fundamental questions about life, humanity, and universal truths. The film festival plays a significant role in spreading the teachings of the Buddha and offering life guidance to a broad audience through the medium of film.

This year, 1,730 short films from 110 countries were submitted, with 23 films selected for the festival. The festival will run from September 9th with the opening ceremony, followed by screenings of short film collections from September 10th to 13th at the Main Hall Auditorium of Dongguk University.

The opening film, “Buddha in Africa,” was screened on September 9th at 7 P.M. in  Main Hall Auditorium produced by Nicole Schafer, a South African director and producer. “Buddha of Africa” won the Best Documentary Award at the Durban International Film Festival. The film explores the life of Enock Alu, who is part of a Chinese Buddhist orphanage in Malawi, Africa. The film will be rescreened on September 10th (Tuesday) and September 11th (Wednesday) at 7:26 P.M. and 7:07 P.M., respectively, in the Main Hall Auditorium.

The closing film will be "Looking for A Lady with Fangs with Fangs and A Moustache,” directed by Bhutanese filmmaker and monk, Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche. It will be shown on September 12th (Thursday) at 6 P.M. in the Main Hall Auditorium.

All films will be screened for three days, and all screenings are free of charge. While online reservations are preferred, on-site reservations are also available, though seat selection is not possible.
