I am Jeon Han-gyeol, the 58th reporter of The Dongguk Post. I am currently studying at the Department of English and Literature at Dongguk University, and I have been with The Dongguk Post since April this year. In this debut essay, I would like to talk about myself and The Dongguk Post.

When I was in high school, I lost my passion for the previous dream I was pursuing. After that, I continued to try to plan for my future, but I still could not draw a clear blueprint for what I wanted to do or what I had to do. Now that I think about it, I realize my perspective was too narrow. There was a time to reconsider whether the vaguely pursued dream was what I truly wanted and suitable for me. In this situation, university was another world where I could find my dream. I wanted to see, hear, and feel things in college that I had never experienced before and make a vision with a broader view.

After graduating from high school, I entered Dongguk University and wanted to create opportunities to experience many things. At the beginning of the semester, I saw various school organizations recruiting new members, and the most notable one for me was The Dongguk Post. When I saw the introduction of The Dongguk Post, I thought that it was suitable for what I wanted. I thought that I would be able to see and experience a lot of news inside and outside the school and have a chance to experience new things.

Also, I did not want to spend the time of my college life meaninglessly, even though I was still thinking about my vision. I hoped that it would be a process of finding a vision, even if it were not a path toward a set goal. When a really good opportunity came in the process, I thought I had to be ready to take it. When the opportunity came, I wanted to grow myself because I did not want to face the lack of my ability to take the opportunity. So, I applied to The Dongguk Post and worked because I wanted to provide an opportunity to grow on my own. I have finished one semester as a cub reporter here at The Dongguk Post, but I think I am already learning and getting a lot of things.

As I continue to work as a reporter, I look forward to seeing how everything I have accumulated in this way will enrich my university life at Dongguk University. I hope that my experiences at The Dongguk Post give me the energy to grow further. Of course, in order to be like that, I will try my best to work hard during my time here as a reporter. Also, I will try to make these efforts have a good impact on others, too.

Thank you for reading.
