[Dongguk 101] How to Move Faster Through Dongguk University’s Campus
Dongguk 101 (3) Dongguk University’s Campus Shortcuts
Exchange students and international students visiting Dongguk University for the first time may not be familiar with the country of South Korea or the geographical layout of Dongguk University, which is located on the high Namsan Mountain. Moreover, four months is considered too short a time to fully familiarize oneself with all of the university’s facilities and efficiently navigate the internal elevators. Therefore, this guide aims to provide information on how to quickly and easily access the internal facilities that international students are likely to visit frequently within Dongguk University.
1. Business Administration & Social-Science Building
After exiting Dongguk-univ-Station on Line 3 to Campus and proceeding to Exit 6th, you will see an escalator leading to Dongguk University. Ascending via this escalator, you will encounter the Academic/Cultural Center and the Lee Hae-Rang Arts Theater; however, to reach the Business Administration Building, you will need to continue past these landmarks. Afterward, as you walk past the wooden stairs towards the end of the road, you will find the elevator. For your information, if you take this elevator and get off the 3rd floor, you can also go to Hyehwa Hall & Law/Manhae Hall (see explanation 2).
Below is a link to how to use the shortcut posted by Dongguk University’s official YouTube account, which the Dongguk Post hopes will help you understand.

2. Hyehwa Hall & Law/Manhae Hall
The Hyehwa Hall is located across the street from the main entrance on the 3rd floor of the Social-Science Building. When you enter Hyehwa Hall, there are two elevators on the left, one going to the ground floor and one going to the basement floor, but you only need to use the ground floor elevator during your school life. After taking the elevator to the 4th floor, you will see the pedestrian overpass. The building you can see past it is Manhae Hall/Law Hall. You can easily access Paljeong-do and other buildings through this route, so be aware of it.

3. Using Wonheung Hall’s elevator
The road from the back entrance through Manhae Square and up to Paljeong-do is very steep. Therefore, Dongguk University students enter Wonheung Hall directly from the back gate through the Information and Culture Center P building. To take the elevator to Wonheung Hall, turn left at the entrance to the first floor of Wonheung Hall, go up the low stairs, and you will find the emergency stairs on your left. Take the stairs up one floor to the second floor of Wonheung Hall, where you can take the elevator. If you get off the elevator on the 4th floor, you can reach the International Office and the Main Building, and if you get off on the 6th floor, you can reach the New Engineering Building and the Central Library.
4. Namsanhaksa/New Engineering Building
If you are going through Chungmuro Station to Campus, you will usually choose to go through the New Engineering Building to get to your classroom. Take Exit 1 at Chungmuro Station, turn right at the Shinhan Bank building, and you will see a long road, and go straight through three intersections to Mega MGC Coffee. Turn left into an alleyway, passing a 7-Eleven, and enter Namsan Residence Hall, a dormitory of Dongguk University. From here, you can take the elevator that runs through Namsan Residence Hall and the New Engineering Building, and both elevators go to the 9th floor, so take the one without people and go up to the 9th floor. When you get to the 9th floor, go out the building’s entrance and you will find the main library on your right to get to Paljeong-do, just go straight.
